About Me

My name is Miguel. Thanks for checking out Story Dashboard. On my free time, I like to write fictional short stories and lyrics. This website was created due to struggles with writing dialogue. I felt that all my fictional characters "spoke" in a monotone voice, lyrics were getting stale, and I desired more nuanced NPCs for Dungeons & Dragons.

There are multiple ways to use Story Dashboard... If you find a unique and creative method, reach out to me! I would love to hear about it! I'm committed to continuously improving this website during my free time to enhance user experience and provide valuable content.

The Goal

Create the most detailed personality generator currently available with the intention to combat writers block affecting creative people from all sorts of backgrounds. Defining a personality is difficult. Charts capture the complex interplay of traits, behaviors, emotions, and experiences unique to each individual.

I advise to use Story Dashboard to assist you in creating stories in multiple mediums like that novel you've been working on for years, paintings, song lyrics... Or even the beat itself! I like to imagine a music producer using Story Dashboard to write a mini story then make a song matching it's vibe.

The dashboard can be overwhelming. What if you don't know anything about astrology or enneagram theory? I barely know these concepts myself! Just take what fits for your goal and ignore the rest of the details that are either uninteresting or that don't make sense for your fictional character.

You can also use Story Dashboard to challenge yourself. Maybe your character's least favorite hobby is pseudoscience due to physical limitations. At first glance, this might not make sense, but with enough thought, you can come up with a creative reason. Perhaps the character is too old to go ghost hunting. Or maybe one of your character's hands was paralyzed in a related accident, preventing the practice of the hobby and feeling bitter about it.

As Orson Welles said, "The enemy of art is the absence of limitations". Use the tool to impose challenges that bloom your creativity.
